Netflix is set to release a new heist series from Mexico called Bandidos, which will be one of the streaming giant’s biggest bets out of Mexico since Narcos: Mexico. The series, shot in Spanish, follows the story of Miguel and accomplice Lilí as they attempt to retrieve treasure from an underwater grave of a Spanish galleon that sunk in the Gulf of Mexico during the War of Independence. However, they are not the only ones after the bounty. The series will feature a massive underwater heist and will be set in various locations.
The main leads of Bandidos are Alfonso Dosal and Ester Expósito, who play Miguel and Lili, respectively. The series also stars Juan Pablo Medina, Mabel Cadena, Nicolás Furtado, Andrés Baida, Andrea Chaparro, Juan Pablo Fuentes, and Bruno Bichir, among others.
Filming for Bandidos started in April 2023, and the series is expected to have at least eight episodes. The exact release date has not been announced yet, but Bandidos is scheduled to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2024.
Bandidos is created by Pablo Tébar, who is also the main writer and showrunner of the series. The series is directed by Adrian Grunberg, known for his work on Rambo: Last Blood and Get the Gringo. Adrien Grunberg, Mark Holder, Christine Holder, and Andrew Wilson are the executive producers, with Stacy Perskie producing.
Wonder Street, Redrum, and Traziende Films are the production companies behind Bandidos. Netflix Latinoamerica has already shared some behind-the-scenes photos from the shoots, building anticipation for the upcoming series.
With its thrilling plot, talented cast, and high production value, Bandidos is expected to be a major hit for Netflix. Fans of heist and action dramas will surely be eagerly awaiting its release in 2024.
