At The Z Review, we are sometimes accused of not listening to our readers. We find this accusation to be offensive, repugnant and depraved. We listen, and as proof, we’re going to hop into our time machine and revisit a long-ago era known as May 9, 2018, when we posted a playlist called “Unlistenable Garbage.”

The purpose of that playlist was to provide 74 minutes of abrasive, screeching awfulness that would end any social gathering, and most of our readers responded in the way we believed they would.

Most of them.

There were some who objected to our characterization of the playlist as “unlistenable.” These readers actually liked a lot of the selections on the playlist, and listened to them for their own enjoyment, without irony. If they were at a social gathering and that playlist went on, they would not find the nearest exit — they would grab a brewski from the fridge, find some vacant couch space and settle in for 74 minutes of joy.

It is for these readers that we have created today’s playlist, which we have dubbed “Atrocious Power Ballads.” We feel confident that these readers would drop the aforementioned brewski and vacate said couch within seconds of this baby making its way out of the speakers.

To them we say, feast your ears on some alternative unlistenable garbage, and feel included in The Z Review’s warm embrace. You are the wind beneath our wings.
