In an op-ed published Sunday in the Washington Post, MSNBC’s host Joe Scarborough detailed his decision to leave the GOP. His piece, titled “Trump is killing the Republican Party,” denounces Republican lawmakers for abandoning the tenets of conservatism in exchange for their craven support of President Trump.

“I did not leave the Republican Party,” says Scarborough. “The Republican Party left its senses.”

In this new Mr. Myxplyx, Trump Paradigm where up is down and down is up, merely having the strength to stand for the truth rises to the level of heroism – especially someone who spent their entire life as a proud Republican. Joe Scarborough is a genuine hero and we need more people like him to do what’s right for the sake of the country. There are others, few and far between, on the Right that have had the guts to call out the mendacity of this sham presidency. Shep Smith and Chris Wallace — to name two — have taken no prisoners in their harsh criticism of the administration. For the most part, however, most Republicans choose silence over bravery. It is more important for them to ensure the passage of their poisonous legislation – their tax cuts for the rich at the potential expense of millions of American’s lives. Collusion be damned, they will not relinquish their power – their ownership of this nation. Ultimately though, they are only contributing to their ultimate destruction. For the truth must will out in the end – it always does.

Last week on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Joe Scarborough announced his departure from the Party he used to love.

“I am a Republican, but I’m not going to be a Republican anymore,” he said.

Perhaps his final decision was helped along by his love of Mika Brzezinski, who knows? But Joe has always been a thinker and as a thinker, there’s just no justifiable way to support a guy like Donald J. Trump. He’s a disrupter…a ruiner – a chaos president. Our only recourse is to speak out about it – and vote. If more Republicans like Joe Scarborough abandon their sinking ship, it might ultimately help save this nation – and bridge the divide between the Left and the Right.
