Remember the eternal whining on the right about Hillary Clinton’s e-mails? Yeah, well it seems like they’ve got a bit of an e-mail problem of their own now. According to a new report in the New York Times, the meeting Donald Trump Jr.took with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya was not merely about gaining dirt on Clinton – bad enough – he also received an e-mail stating that the Russian government was supplying the information as part of a covert campaign to get his father elected. The story in the Times states:
”Before arranging a meeting with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer he believed would offer him compromising information about Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump Jr. was informed in an email that the material was part of a Russian government effort to aid his father’s candidacy, according to three people with knowledge of the email.”
Trump defenders have been focusing on the fact that the Veselnitskaya had, in fact, no such incriminating intel But, whether she did or did not is entirely beside the point. What matters is that Junior thought she did. So his intent was to collude with Russia to tank Clinton. Game over. Moreover, what if Veselnitskaya had such information? Of course they would have used it.
Out of all the shoes that have dropped in this case so far, this one is a size 15.
Papa Trump has remained uncharacteristically silent since this story broke. Rumors are Junior’s nickname around the White House is Fredo – the mentally deficient oldest son in the movie The Godfather.
Perhaps our dear leader’s spawn should be preparing himself for a nice trip out on the lake? (it’s a Godfather reference!)
There will be plenty more to come. Already, Democratic Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Mark Warner is saying he wants to question Junior about the incident. God knows what that simpleton might divulge under real pressure.
