Donald J. Trump tweeted another missive to the world confirming that he was under investigation – as reported by the Washington Post on Wednesday — and blaming Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein for the situation.
I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 16, 2017
Okay, let’s break that down.
Our dear leader is blaming Rosenstein for ‘telling him to fire’ ex-FBI kahuna James ‘high pockets’ Comey and is fuming that he turned around and appointed Special Counsel Mueller who is now lubelessly probing him and his daughter/wife’s husband. Whoah, hold up there big guy. The truth is, Trump ordered the Deputy Attorney General to find an excuse to give Comey the axe. In his interview with Lester Holt, the President admitted he was going to fire him ‘regardless of Rosenstein’s recommendation’, calling high pockets a ‘showboat’ and a ‘grandstander’. Moreover, he told Russian officials that Comey was a ‘nutjob’ and now that he was gone the ‘pressure was off’.
Donald’s tweet comes a day after a statement issued by Rosenstein on Thursday, urging Americans to be skeptical of anonymous officials’
“Americans should exercise caution before accepting as true any stories attributed to anonymous ‘officials,’ particularly when they do not identify the country ― let alone the branch or agency of government ― with which the alleged sources supposedly are affiliated. Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegations. The Department of Justice has a long-established policy to neither confirm nor deny such allegations.”
The talking yam doesn’t know which way to jump.
I predict that the Deputy Attorney General will recuse himself…or perhaps be the next one on the chopping block. I still believe Trump is seriously considering firing Mueller, though that would seal his fate. To pull the plug on the Special Counsel at this point, with no credible reason, would be a move I don’t think even the Republicans in congress could support.
