Another day, another dis for Donald J. Trump. Three months after the rejection of his original travel ban in Hawaii, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit rejected an attempt to reinstate the revised version. The executive order called for a ban on travel from six Muslim-majority countries and a suspension of the refugee resettlement program.
The court was unanimous in their decision, stating, “The Immigration and Nationality Act … gives the President broad powers to control the entry of aliens, and to take actions to protect the American public. But immigration, even for the President, is not a one-person show.”
Adding,”The President’s authority is subject to certain statutory and constitutional restraints. We conclude that the President, in issuing the Executive Order, exceeded the scope of the authority delegated to him by Congress.”
With the most recent rebuke, the case is headed towards the Supreme Court for final determination. The Justices will have to decide whether Donald’s vocal history of anti-muslim sentiment will factor into the ruling on the constitutionality of the ban.
Thus far, it’s been an impressive stack of goose eggs the talking yam’s accumulated. With rumors that the repeal of Obamacare is looking less and less like a possibility, you’d be hard pressed to find a single Trump accomplishment…I mean, aside from successfully destroying our credibility and standing on the global stage, insulting our most valued allies, and generally acting like a total buffoon.
