So, the big moment has come and gone, ex-FBI director James “high pockets” Comey’s shattering and much anticipated testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee. The atmosphere was electric, the Super Bowl of politics. We would finally get to hear from the horse’s mouth what exactly happened behind closed doors…did Trump attempt to obstruct the Russia investigation? Did he meddle, take golden showers in Moscow…demand Comey’s loyalty? By the end of the hearing, it sure sounded like he did – all except for maybe the pee pee. Was it a death blow to Donald’s presidency? Most likely, no. But perhaps it was truly the beginning of the end.
So, what did the bloviating yam have to say about it all? Very little. There were no tweets, no grand pronouncements…no rage.
Appearing at a conference hosted by the Faith & Freedom Coalition – an annual gathering of conservative evangelicals and activists – the President only alluded to Comey, telling attendees that “the truth” would eventually come to light.
“As you know, we’re under siege,” said Trump. “You understand that. But we will come out bigger and better and stronger than ever. You watch.”
Adding, “As the Bible tells us, we know that the truth will prevail. We are winners. We are going to fight, and we are going to have an unbelievable future.”
And that was that. For the entirety of his 30 minute speech, the name Comey never came up.
Does it sound like our Prevaricator-in-Chief has a bad case of battle fatigue to you? His non-rebuttal, rebuttal was about as toothless as an Appalachian Granpappy. Is it about time to start using the ‘I’ word in earnest? In the coming days, I’m sure it’ll be echoing down ‘dem Capitol halls to an ultimate crescendo.
